About Us
Growing up in Waikiki, Cedric has been shreddin’ sidewalks & waves since his hanabada days. In elementary he started boogie boarding every day after school while learning his elemenohpee’s. When he wasn’t in school or surfing, you could catch him walking around with a fresh cassette tape in his walkman. This kid loved music! In middle school, Cedric got really into hip hop & started competing in surfing at the same time. The very 1st contest he entered, he borrowed a surfboard from a friend & won 2nd place! During high school, he ended up becoming state champion in long boarding, national champion in bodyboarding, started freestyle rapping, writing his own songs, & learned how to screen print. He was always fascinated by all genres of art, style, design & music.
Enter Geri aka Omni, a dancing, rapping, yogini & healing arts practitioner who is moved by music, nature, & community. She hails from Philly, a city she deeply adores however, she met this island boy in a freestyle cypher one visit to Oahu & sparks flew. The two got groovy and now reside together on the island where they make music, build their independent record label, Chi Funk LLC, surf, & focus on making their dreams a reality while dancing to vinyl records in their kitchen.
Why did you start your business?
We decided to create Wax On Tees in an effort to combine our passions in one nichey package & to share the stoke with others. We enjoy being creative together, bouncing ideas back + forth & making one another laugh, so coming up with clever designs combining Vinyl, Surfing, & Karate Kid was just kind of a no brainer. We love what we do!
How will this business help/add value to/inspire people?
We hope our designs will bring joy & feelings of nostalgia to people who wear and see our shirts. We just wanna put some smiles on some faces and a little warmth in some hearts, ya know.
Do you have a cause?
Wax On is for da keiki!
